On February 17, 2009, all full-power broadcast TV stations in the US will stop broadcasting on analog airwaves and begin broadcasting only in digital. Digital broadcasting will allow stations to offer improved picture and sound quality and additional channels.

The problem? If your television is not equipped to receive digital signals, and you're not connected to cable or satellite TV, you will not be able to receive a broadcast signal after February 16, 2009.

If you're not buying a new TV, you will need a converter box to receive the digital signal. The government has established a coupon program to help persons with older television sets buy converter boxes. Households can get up to two coupons.

Go to https://www.dtv2009.gov to obtain a coupon.

JUST SO YOU KNOW:

Breast Cancer DIY

Breast Cancer DIY is a website created for women with breast cancer, by women with breast cancer.

So often when your doctor tells you that you have cancer, your ears will shut down, and you will not hear anything your doctor says after the word CANCER!   Many women are so overwhelmed at this point that they don't know where to turn.

Attempting to research the internet is a daunting task!  Breast Cancer DIY attempts to take some mystery out of this research. They have included links that other women have used to help them better understand the facts of breast cancer, and how they helped themselves through those early days after their diagnosis, then through their journey of breast cancer treatments, and life beyond.

The Gaillardia shown in the window above the FOLIO bookshelf, is Oklahoma's official State wildflower. Also known as the Indian Blanket, the flower symbolizes Oklahoma's scenic beauty as well as the state's Indian heritage. Oklahoma's landscape is also adorned with many beautiful libraries, --libraries that, like the Gaillardia, need nurturing and support in order to bloom to their fullest glory.

The Guthrie Public Library appreciates and relies on its Friends group, the Friends of the Guthrie Public Library. Please join the Friends! Our Friends group is extremely generous and the money they raise supports our library programs and materials. Call 405-282-0050 for more information.
